She was predeceased by: her parents, Riley Smith and Mary Ellen Smith (Smith); her sister Rosellen Allen; and her great grandchild Miles Hanson. She is survived by: her husband Orville Helland of Cylinder, Iowa; her children, Denise Laaveg (Lee) of Bemidji, Lori Helland of Little Falls and Erik Helland of New York; her granddaughter Jessica Chipman (Jay); her great grandchildren, Ruby and Cora; her grandchild Andrea Hanson; her great grandchildren, Adler, Brooks, Sofie and Carew; her granddaughter Heather Wencl (Greg); her great grandchild Louie; her grandson Luke Laaveg (Liv); her great grandchild Pema; and her granddaughter Erika Helland. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home (704 Grand Ave, Emmetsburg, IA 50536).
The family requests that memorials be directed to Palo Alto County Hospice.
