He was predeceased by: his brothers, Daryl and Larry; his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Edna Steen; his brother-in-law Joe Lundsgaard; and his nephew Dan Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Dolores Steen of Cushing, Iowa; and his children, Johnnie (Linda) of Cushing, Jimmie of Cushing, Iowa, Julie Enockson (Barry) of Sioux City, Iowa and Jeffrey (Lisa) of Cushing, Iowa.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
