He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Batesole and Helen Batesole (Finley); his sister Marilyn; and his son Jeffrey (Joan Curson). He is survived by: his wife Claudia Batesole (Smith); his children, Teri Chelsvig (Dave), Vicki Lee (David Bagby), Kate Blomgren (Alastair Bullett) and Jim Blomgren (Katy); and his grandchildren, Jermi Kopsa (Brooke Yuska), Shay Scholtes (Will), Brooklyn Barnett (Greg), Hunter Blomgren, Madelyn Blomgren and Max Bullett. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please direct all memorials to Suncrest Hospice, Des Moines.
