He was predeceased by: his parents, John Augusta Shimer and Mimi Versa (Chandler); his siblings, Virgil, Johnny, Albert, Jack Shimer and Mini Katherine; his siblings-in-law, Marie Shimer, Junior Bolinger and Jack Camden; his sister Cora Adamson (Marvin); and his parents-in-law, Claude and Crystal Matheny.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Shimer of Creston; his children, Eric Shimer (Carrie) of Creston and Wendy Clayton (Alan) of Sharpsburg; his sisters, Sandra Bolinger of Creston and Kay Camden of Bedford; his sister-in-law Lulu Shimer of Blockton; his grandchildren, Dale Shimer of Bland, Chrystal Valencia (Patrick) of Overbrook, Kan, Devon Shaw (Nisan) of Bedford and Samantha Miller of Lenox; and his great grandchildren, Ethan Shaw, Liam Shaw, Mira Shaw, Allison Shaw Jasmine Shaw and Elijah Valencia.
