He is survived by: his parents, George Schmitt and Darlene Schmitt (Linderbaum) of Cresco; his wife Denise of Cresco; his siblings, Pamela "Pam" Schmitt (Tom Glynn) of Brainerd, MN and Thomas "Tom" Schmitt of Independence, IA; his nieces, Patty, Kelly and Kimberly; his father-in-law Darrell Bruening (Gretchen) of Decorah, IA; his siblings-in-law, Debbie Masias (Mark) of Colorado Springs, CO, Darcy Whalen (Joe) of Decorah, IA and Jed Johnson (Michelle) of Caledonia, MN; his nieces and nephews, Sarah, Jenny, Taylor, Amber, Jamie, Aubrey, Samantha and Korbin; his mother-in-law Juanita Bruening; and his uncle Bob. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews; special aunts, uncles, cousins, many special friends.
