She was predeceased by: her parents, Ulrich Balk and Rose Balk (Weinfurter); her husband Oscar "Butch" Melver; and her siblings, Julius, James, Walter, Arthur, Leona, Rueben, Rita, Alma, Robert, Donald and Floyd.
She is survived by: her son Mark Melver (Julie) of Elma, IA; her grandchildren, Rayna Dunn (Josh) of Alta Vista, IA, Kitana Hanson (Tim) of New Hampton, IA and Hunter Freebury (Ashley Thurman) of Lyle, MN; and her brothers, Francis Balk of Osage, IA and Ron Balk of Cresco. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
