He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McConnell and Elizabeth McConnell (McCormick); his siblings, Mary Jane McCabe (Leonard), Eddie McConnell (Margaret), Lucian McConnell (Millie), William "Roger" McConnell and Jim McConnell; his parents-in-law, Frank and Alice Samec; and his siblings-in-law, Helen Sorensen (Clarence), Edward Samec and Jerry Kruchek.
He is survived by: his wife Mary McConnell of Cresco, IA; his children, Laurie Ollendieck (Craig) of Cresco, Brian McConnell (Jill) of Cresco, Bruce McConnell (Kim) of Cresco and Brad McConnell (Amy) of Cresco; his grandchildren, Clayton, Garret Ollendieck, Molly Tweten (Troy), Elle McConnell, Andy, Austin, Ashton McConnell, Talon and Torie McConnell; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley McConnell of Cresco, Arlene Kruchek of Dunkerton, IA, Frank Samec (Marion) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Art Samec (Donna) of Jesup, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
To keep from getting cabin fever during the COVID pandemic, Frank and Mary liked to take daily car rides.
