He is survived by: his wife Ruth Goodman; his children, Michael Messerli (Linda) of Bella Vista and Connie Lauver (Steve) of Council Bluffs; his grandchildren, Tammi Martin (Mike), Todd Messerli (Becky), Michelle Schaeffer (Brent) and Renee Lauver; his great grandchildren, Erick Martin (Kayla), Alex Martin (Haley), Chad Martin (Kye), Marie Messerli, Mitchell Messerli, Peter Messerli, Claire Messerli, Jordan Schaeffer (Alyssa), Emily Hestness and Allison Schaeffer; his great great grandchildren, Wesley Mueller, Crew Mueller, Kashton Schaeffer and Nellie Martin; his brothers, Ralph Messerli (Linda), Larry Messerli (Sue) and Kenny Messerli; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Dinkel and Lil Messerli.
