With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary A. VanScoy (Council Bluffs, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 2, 2025 at the age of 93. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Mary had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Mary may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Bengford and Helen Bengford (Dinges); her husband James L. VanScoy; her sons, Jim and Mike VanScoy; and her great grandchild Zachary David.
She is survived by: her children, Denise Walden (Wes) of Goehner, NE., Maribeth Mohatt (Dan) of Florissant, CO., Stephannie VanScoy (Tim Ball) of Council Bluffs and Richard VanScoy (Debby) of Council Bluffs; and her sister Dorothy Barkley of Illinois. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
