She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred C. Burnam and Verde Lucille Burnam (Muller); her husband Richard Kates; and her sister Jackie. She is survived by: her children, Linda Smith of Omaha, NE, Lisa Rollins (Monty) of Oakland, IA, Larry Kates of Oakland, IA and Lonnie Kates (Julie) of Carson, IA; and her grandchildren, Carey Danker (Stacy), Christi Gibler, Lindsey Henderson (Rhett), Leigh Bell (Herb), Lauren Schueman (Cody), Mitchell Rollins (Kelsie), Kyra Kates (Miles), Ean Kates, Ryleigh Kates, Karlee Kates, Seth Kates (Melanie), Kade Kates (Melody) and Gabrielle McCowen (Garret). She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church (200 N Main St, Oakland, IA 51560). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
