He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Shields and Susie Shields (Knight); and his siblings, Franklin Shields, Harry Shields, Butch Shields, Johnny Shields, Aclyda Anderson, Audrey Stotts, Noretta "Nan" Mullen, Julie Hutchinson and Hazel Stoops.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Shields; his children, Toni Grzebielski, Troy Shields and Jamie Shields; his grandchildren, Justin Shields and Tori Shields; and his great grandchild Anna Thompson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
