He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shafer and Ida Shafer (Burton); and his siblings, Robin Sorrells and Martin Luster (Drew Shafer). He is survived by: his sons, Justin Mossberger (Amanda), Donald Shafer (Brenna) and Dominic Shafer; his brothers, William Luster (Cassie) and Jeff Shafer (Stephanie); and his grandchildren, Joslyn, Austin, Jayden, Avery, Jackson, Madilynn, Donavin, Cohen, Damian and Deklin.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home (1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501).
