He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Edward "Ed" and Hazel Gertrude Horton (Wright); his wife Patricia Ann Stark of Plano; his former wife Pat Horton; his granddaughter Jessica Ann Horton; his brother-in-law Robert Cole; his children, Tammy Davis (Jamison) of Promise City and Jimmy Horton (Laura) of Garden Grove; his grandchildren, Dusty Horton (Samantha), Dillon Horton (Meranda), Tamara Davis-Salladay, Evan Davis, Ratha Davis-Thomason and Ethan Davis; his great grandchildren, Joslynn Salladay, Joel Salladay, Aleutia Thomason, Cooper Horton, Madison Horton, Harper Dickenson, Briar Horton and Lewcious Davis; and his sister Gilda Cole.
Memorials may be given to the family for a park bench established in James's name, or to EveryStep Hospice.
