He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace McCord and Martha Elizabeth Barbee (Curran); his parents-in-law, Harvey and Dorothy; and his brother-in-law Norman Eader.

He is survived by: his son Joe; his wife Joretta Barbee of Coralville, IA; his sons, Thomas Barbee (Heather) of Ankeny, IA, Aaron Barbee (Tonya) of Cumming, GA and Joseph Barbee (Tiffany De) of Tiffin, IA; his grandchildren, Kyler, Amery, Breckin, Brock, Curran, Zoa, Cillian and Calvin; his sister Suzanne DeWoody (Bruce) of Columbus, OH; and his siblings-in-law, Harvey Eader (Marlene) and Patricia Finely. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kernels Foundation or Four Oaks Family and Childrens Services.

“Tom & I first met halfway around a world 1967 Vietnam. Our relationship continued, MacDill AFB Tampa, meeting wife Joretta & then 1st son Tommy. Baby sitting Tommy was a blessing in my life, giving them evenings together after a lost year! Later after our AF service, they returned to Columbus, OH and I to KY. My golfing buddy and I got together many times in Columbus, later working for the same company of which he got me the job. There aren't enough words here to describe my love for Tom!!!”
