He was predeceased by: his parents, John Louis Walsh and Ann E. Walsh (Knepper); his wife Carol; his parents-in-law, Louis F. Welter and Stella R. Welter (Nachtman); his daughter-in-law Renee Upah-Walsh; his sisters, Genevieve Nemmers (Walsh), Ruth Trausch (Walsh) and Jean Bartels (Walsh); his brothers-in-law, Thomas J. Trausch and Dale J. Bartels; and his nieces and nephews, Mark Bartels, Nicholas Bartels, Marie Bartels and Mary Ann Nemmers.
He is survived by: his children, Susan of Iowa City, Steve of Waukee, Janet of Chicago and James of Boston, Massachusetts; his grandsons, Jonathon McFall (Suzanne Pichoff) of Des Moines and Marcus McFall; and his great grandchild Gabriel Eric McFall.
