With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ilene Catherine (Pickart) Paulsen of Coralville, Iowa, who passed away on February 20, 2025 at the age of 91. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ilene Catherine (Pickart) Paulsen to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Anton Pickart and Lena Pickart (Bigge); her husband Herb of Mary's Catholic Church; her siblings, Ed Pickart (Carol), Dorothy Gloede (Verlus) and John Pickart (Charlene); and her brother-in-law David Schallau.
She is survived by: her children, Mark Paulsen (Virginia) of Elizabethtown, KY, Laurie Paulsen (Tom Roper) of Minneapolis, MN, Mindy Paulsen of Iowa City, Beth Paulsen of Ames, Jay Paulsen (Lori) of Iowa City and Ellen Vawter (Tim); and her siblings, Mary Jane Schallau of Lincoln, NE, Richard Pickart (Dianne) of Van Horne and Linda Kaloupek (Joe) of Elberon. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (405 4th Ave, Van Horne, IA 52346). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A reception will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, or the North Liberty Community Pantry.
