He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Cretsinger and Gladys Cretsinger (Ditto); his great grandchild Drew Becker; his sister Velma Hagmann (Bob); his niece Sharon Hagmann; his siblings-in-law, Juanita Paulsen and Steve Smouse; and also, Howard and La Von Smouse.
He is survived by: his former wife Janet Smouse; his wife Jan Cretsinger of Coon Rapids; his daughter Deb Becker (Brad) of Emmetsburg; his grandchildren, Jennifer Landsberger (George) of Kingsland and Josh Becker (Heidi) of Firestone, Colorado; his great grandchild Molly; his aunt Wilma Bowman of Audubon; and his brother-in-law Lyle Paulsen of Coon Rapids. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In 2006, Norman was diagnosed with heart problems and then Parkinson's disease.
