He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Richards and Irene Richards (McAdoo); his parents-in-law, John and Mary Hardy; his siblings, Morris Richards (Helen), Warren Richards (Ruth), Clarence Richards (Clarice), Ross Richards (Phyllis), Ruth Henry and Mary Tiemann; and his brother-in-law John "Sonny" Hardy (Judy).
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Elizabeth Hardy of Coon Rapids; his children, Debbie LaVoie (Craig) of Cincinnati, OH and Carl Richards (Debbie) of Garden Plain, KS; his grandchildren, Jackie Cooper (Casey), Justin LaVoie, Jeffrey LaVoie (Kristen), Heather Lockwood (Ethan) and Courtney Richards; his great grandchildren, Dominic and Carson; and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Ireland (John) of Bullhead City, AZ, Jane Lutz (Butch) of Rockport, MO, Edwin Henry of Indianola and Warren Tiemann of Tarkio, MO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
