He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Leo and Matilda Bessie Zern (Vajgrt); his wife Cloris; his children, Jack Zern (Danice) of Conrad, Scott Zern (Lory) of Laurel and Cathy Geake (John) of Wall Lake; his grandchildren, Nicole McKillip (Tony) of Ankeny, Brook McPhearson (Adam) of Maxwell, Brittany Brown (Chase) of Grimes, Angela Dickenson (Dan) of Ankeny, Tim Zern (Kaitlin) of Cedar Falls, Amy Tate (Chad) of Waterloo, Sara Kirkley (Brandon) of Grand Island, NE, Tom Geake (Kaitlin) of Wall Lake and Laura Schmidt (Kris); his stepgrandsons, Dominic and Elliott Vilman; his great grandchildren, Trey, Carson, Quinn, Kylie McKillip, Landon, Evan McPhearson, Avery, Camryn, Cooper Brown, Reece, Brennan, Lauren Dickenson, Ava, Olivia Zern, Ryland, Rowan, Easton Tate, Elaina, Claire, June, Cecelia, William and Ada Geake; his brother-in-law Mike Stubbs; his nieces and nephews, Jamie Knutson (Mike), Deb Sharp (Roy), Dennis Stubbs (Linda), Kevin Stubbs (Deb), Paul Zern and David Zern (Kari); his brother Robert; his sister-in-law Betty Zern; and his daughter-in-law Lynn Zern.
The family requests everyone to wear a mask to the visitation and service.
