He was predeceased by: his parents, Otho McDonald and Mildred McDonald (Cook); his wife Eileen Marie Cline; and his son Layton. He is survived by: his children, Heath McDonald (Cindy) of Lone Tree and Sheila Eckrich (Kenny) of Iowa City; his grandchildren, Tyler McDonald (Nicole), Emilee McDonald (Ethan), Kylee McDonald (Jesse), Jackie McDonald, Brad McDonald (Kyrye), Eric McDonald (Kylie), Austin McDonald-Snakenberg (Courtney), Sommer Lemley (John), Jessica Montoya, Missy Velasquez (Lucas) and Marc Katzenburger; his stepgrandchildren, Dawn Davies (Jeremy), Amanda Crane (Sean) and Ryan Charbon (Krissy); and his siblings, Steve "Butch" McDonald of Central City, Carolyn Gibbs (LaVerne) of Cedar Rapids and Sharon Smith (Bryce). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
