She was predeceased by: her parents, Oray Schmitt and Dorothea Schmitt (Kemper); and her brother Melvin Bissinger. She is survived by: her husband Jerry Joe Mellor; her sister Doris McDaniel of Des Moines; her son Brian Townsend (Debbie) of Prairie City; her stepdaughter DeAnne Sesker (Terry) of Mitchellville; her grandchildren, Kelsey Evans (Jarod) of Prairie City, Tyler Townsend of Prairie City, Kaylee Townsend of Prairie City, Abbie Sesker of Mitchellville and Austin Sesker of Mitchellville; and her great grandchild Everett Evans of Prairie City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Shirley's name.
