He is survived by: his wife Jane; his children, Mark (Amy Marshall) of Albia and Laura Seiler (Marv) of Van Meter; his grandchildren, Colin Herbold, Regan, Cole and Jade Seiler; his great grandchild Rowan Heather; and his brother Jim Herbold (Helen) of Newton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Edgewater Good Samaritan Fund, ISU Foundation (for Veterinary Medicine), or the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
