She was predeceased by: her parents, Harris and Ruth Thomas (Williams); her husband John Van Ekeren; her son-in-law Don Shelton; and her siblings, Harry Thomas, John Thomas, Chuck Thomas, Don Thomas, Norma Hodge, Shirley Gooden and Stella English.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jodi Shelton of St. Charles, Vicki Gunsaulus (Randy) of Newton and Kristi Shepard (Robin) of Cottage Grove, WI; her grandchildren, Mike Gunsaulus (Michaela), Matthew Gunsaulus (Jessa Dickinson), Molly Brandhorst (Dan) and Dawn Kasotia (Umang); her great grandchildren, Madden, Miles, Mae Gunsaulus, Brynn, Cole, Parker Brandhorst and Arjun Kasotia; and her sisters-in-law, Virginia Thomas and Jeanne Crane.
