It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Wessel of Colesburg, Iowa, who passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Burdette Wessel and Lucile Wessel (Hilsenbeck); his parents-in-law, Cletus and Elizabeth Nachtman; and his in-laws, Mary Murray, John Nachtman, Dorothy Roling, Robert Murray and Wallace Fett.
He is survived by: his wife Julia Nachtman; his children, Christina Carter of Story City, Thomas Wessel (Amy) of Edgewood, Deanne Hermsen (Scott) of Dyersville, John Wessel (Kara) of Colesburg and Jennifer Cherne (Eric) of Colesburg; his grandchildren, Ryan, Michael Carter, Natalie, Avery, Samantha Wessel, Jacob, Joseph Hermsen, Justin, Elizabeth (Alex Welch), Luke Wessel, Mariah and Lauren Cherne; his siblings, Edward Wessel (Elaine), Diane Gannon (Patrick), Marla Fett, Esther Fitzpatrick, Calvin Wessel (Vicki) and David Wessel (Joyce); and his in-laws, Francis Nachtman, Rita Nachtman, Betty Kruse (Gene), Charlotte Nachtman and Leo Roling.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Calendar St. Patrick Parish Center (708 Delaware St, Colesburg, IA 52035). A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Calendar St. Patrick Catholic Church (708 Delaware St, Colesburg, IA 52035).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Colesburg Legion.
