He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Joseph and Ellen McEleney (O'Neil); his sister Susan; and his brother-in-law John Hargrave. He is survived by: his wife Janet Ekberg of Patrick's Church; his children, Molly Anne McEleney of North Liberty and Michael John McEleney (Sara) of Iowa City; his grandchildren, Adalyn, Gavin and Mason; and his siblings, Anne Hargrave of Iowa City, John McEleney (Ginny) of Bettendorf, Dan McEleney (Rose) of Clinton, Ed McEleney (Carol) of Iowa City and Bill McEleney (Tina) of Naperville, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He served on the Prince of Peace School Financial Advisory Board and was dedicated in his role on the Board of Directors for the Clinton Area Showboat while acquiring donations to provide financial support for the productions.
