He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Birt and Christine Birt (Rohde); his wife Sandra Bell; his granddaughter Hannah; his sister Joann; his brother-in-law Leonard Bruhn; his son-in-law Phil Heine; and his nieces, Denise Stone and Kris Bruhn.
He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Schau (Todd) of Goose Lake, Melissa Birt-Steeg (Paul) of Clinton, Traci Bailey (Corry) of Clinton and Travis Birt (Mary) of Clinton; his grandchildren, Pete, Alexis, Marisa, Kyla, Payten, Keegan, Olivia and Max; his great grandchildren, Jameson, Claire, Wesson and Wynn; and his nephew Alex Bruhn.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Pape Funeral Home (2308 Pershing Blvd, Clinton, IA 52732). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
