He is survived by: his wife Mary Thornton Hayes of Clinton, IA; his children, Sarah Hayes, Emily McCollum (Joseph) of Sac City, IA, Jennifer Hayes Miller (Hayes) of Byron, IL, James Dermody (Natalie) of Cypress, TX, John Dermody (DeAnna) of Clive, IA, Kelly Fox (Brent) of Long Beach, CA and Katie Kuehl (Dermody) of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Elissa, Cameron Miller, Sam, Abby, Alex Dermody, Zach, Lizzie, Matthew Dermody, Grace, Hannah Osier, Kyle Dermody (Chelsee), Allison and Emily Kuehl; his great grandchild Kellen Hayes Dermody; his siblings, Barbara Fry of East Sparta, OH, Robert Hayes (Debbie) of Massillon, OH, Bill Hayes of East Sparta, OH and Michael Hayes (Sandra) of Clinton, IA; his siblings-in-law, Dan Thornton and Joanne Thornton; his niece Denise; and his nephew Kenny.
