She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Hayes and Helen Hayes (Petersen); her husband Thomas; and her siblings, Judy, Rosemary and Steve.

She is survived by: her children, Chris McCarthy (Gail) of Fort Collins, CO, Brian McCarthy (Joni) of Woodward, IA and Ann Kohl (Jamie Hitchcock) of Bryant, IA; her grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Brianna, Emily, Cari, Aaron and Jenna; her siblings, Becky Ickes (Jim) of Marion, IA, Tom Hayes (Carol) of Shorewood, IL and Dennis Hayes (Nancy) of Cedar Falls, IA; and her close friend Gordon Cramer of Clinton, IA. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews; and her two sister-in-laws.
