He was predeceased by: his parents, Ewart Thomas and Helen Thomas (South). He is survived by: his wife Sandra "Bunny" Thomas of Clinton; his children, James Thomas (Jamie) of Davenport, Virginia Thomas of Davenport and John Thomas of Davenport; his stepsons, Brian Gray of Davenport and Robert Gray (Tonya) of Long Grove, Iowa; and his sister Margo Harmon (Michael) of Moline. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Point Hospice.
