He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Mether and Lydia Mether (Lipskoch); his wife Virginia Hagge (Rixen); and his brothers, Lawrence and Venice.
He is survived by: his former wife Mary Karr; his children, Byron Mether (Susan) of East Peoria, IL, Lynda Martin (Dean) of Maquoketa, IA, Gordon Mether (Tari) of Naples, FL and Barton Mether of Stevens Point, WI; his stepdaughters, Louann McNamara (Anthony) of Boulder, CO, Jeanann Bailey (James) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Marcia Gertson (Terry) of Terre Haute, IN and Sharen Peart (James) of Clinton, IA; and his grandchildren, Derek, Jeremy, Seth, Jacquelyn and Bruce. He is also survived by five great grandsons; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
