He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Carder and Lauretta Carder (Ginther); his stepmother Mildred Dietrich (Shirley); his children, Bruce, John, Kent and Paula; his son-in-law Chris Reedy; his brother Gordon "Timmy" Carder; and his siblings-in-law, Pat Carder, Donna Helmle, Bernette Andresen, Elmer (Alverta), Lester (Pat) and Lowell Brandenburg (Nellie).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Eickert; his sons, Jim Carder of Sabula and Kelly Carder (Andrea) of Clinton; his brother Lee Carder (JoEllen) of Des Moines; his brother-in-law Larry Helmle of Spragueville; and his sister Pam. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
