He is survived by: his wife Marlene Till; his children, Michael James Hilgendorf (Michelle) of Clinton, Ann Marie Hilgendorf of Iowa City, Very, V. F. of Ottumwa, IA and Matthew Louis Hilgendorf (Mindy) of Clinton; his grandsons, Andrew of Clinton and Lucas of Clinton; and his brothers, Don Hilgendorf (Sharon) of Clinton and Bill Hilgendorf (Susan) of Mt. Carroll, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in his name for Catholic education.
