He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynn Bender and Elsie Bender (Priebe); and his great grandchild Colton. He is survived by: his wife Helen Oberman of Clinton; and his daughters, Robin Bender of Tucson, Rachel Delestatious (Brian Nagy) of Milwaukie and Roberta Leeper (Matt) of Ainsworth, Iowa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clinton or the Hope Lodge at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
