He was predeceased by: his parents, August Erling and Madeline "Pearl" Erling (Pentland); his spouse Carol Landis; his brother August Jr.; and his brother-in-law Robert Kislia.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Erling (Anita) of Clinton, Lisa Kramer (Gary) of Fulton, IL and David Erling (Danelle) of Clinton; his siblings, Dick Erling (Glenna) of Wellton, AZ, Robert Erling (Jan) of LeClaire, IA, Joyce Kislia of Davenport and Linda Kendrick (Glen) of Iowa; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Erling of Eldridge, IA.. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice, Alzheimer Association, or Community Congregational Church UCC.
