He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Peter Petersen and Christina Petersen (Schaeffer); his wife Phyllis Kooi of Clinton; his stepchildren, Tim Hensel of Clinton and Cathy Melvin (Larry) of Clinton; and his sister Jane Moens of Geneseo, Illinois. He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
