He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Thornton and Florence Thornton (Frank); his grandson Jeremy; and his son-in-law Greg Waddell. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Fife; his children, Ron Reid (Deb) of Wayland, IA, Chuck Thornton (Brenda) of Clinton, IA, Linda Waddell of Clinton, IA, Steve Thornton (Kathy) of Fairfield, IA and Mike Thornton (Kim) of Thomson, IL; and his siblings, Richard Thornton (Carol) of California, Dan Thornton (Carolyn) of Missouri, Ruth Ann Van Loo (Jim) of Missouri and Mary Hayes (Phil) of Clinton, IA. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
