He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard R. Adkins and Opal N. Adkins (Stowers); and his siblings, Arby, Naomi, Ludena, Bertie and Arnie.
He is survived by: his wife Emma Morrissey Holcomb; his children, Lynn Hamilton (David "Chip") of Fulton, Bernard "John" Toureen (Penny) of Mackinaw, IL, David Toureen (Laura) of Fulton, Shelley McClusky (Paul) of Davenport, Tonia Edens of Clinton, John Adkins of Omaha, NE, Darla Lamp (Brent) of Clinton and Leslie Adkins of Clinton; and his brothers, Roger Adkins (Constance) of Clinton and Gary Adkins (Cathie) of Clinton. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
