He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Matje and Gertrude Matje (Licht). He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Leibert; and his children, Melanie Peterson (Matthew) of Camanche, Michael Matje (Karen) of Clinton and Matthew Matje of Clinton. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

“I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER UNCLE ARNIE WANTING TO BE A PART OF MY LIFE. WHEN OUR FAMILY WAS GOING TO TREK BACK TO CLINTON FOR A VISIT HE'D WANT TO KNOW THE DATE WE'D BE FLYING IN. HE WAS ALWAYS QUICK TO FIND OUT WHERE RANDY AND I COULD MEET WITH HIM AND AUNT EVIE FOR DINNER, UNCLE ARNIE HELPED ME TO RELIVE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES LIKE DRIVES TO ALL THE CEMETARIES WHERE MATJE LOVED ONES WERE LAID TO REST. IT WAS FUN REMINESCING ALL ALONG THE WAY. UNCLE ARNIE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. KAREN GOODELL”
