He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McCormick and Adeline McCormick (Walter); his siblings, Jerry McCormick (Helen), Dale McCormick, Carol Quam and Joyce Gates (Gary); and his nephews, Terry McCormick and Kyle McCormick.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Benson of Clear Lake; his children, Connie Schroeder (Tracy) of Garner, Kevin McCormick (Marie) of Waukee, Scott McCormick (Jaime) of Mason City and Susan Boehnke (Dan) of Garner; his grandchildren, Cole McCormick (Sam), Maddison McCormick (Jake Mulder), Shelby Schroeder, Colton Schroeder (Kylee Luther), Bayley McCormick, Brody Boehnke, Braden Boehnke and Tanner McCormick; his great grandchild Lane Michael McCormick; his brother Donald McCormick (Pat) of Decorah; and his siblings-in-law, Jule McCabe of Decorah and Carsten Quam of Decorah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
