It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Galen N. Pitkin of Clear Lake, Iowa, who passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Norval Pitkin and Doris Pitkin (Conibear); his former wife Marlys Johnson; his stepdaughter Tammy Schmidke; his son-in-law Steve Buseman; his brother David Pitkin; and his brother-in-law Donald Ytzen.
He is survived by: his wife Cecelia Sinnwell LaBarge; his sons, Ron Pitkin (Pam), Dennis Pitkin (Jolene), Kevin Pitkin (Ruth) and Ken Pitkin (Deanna); his stepchildren, Jeffrey LaBarge (Sonja), Randy LaBarge (Danette) and Lorie Buseman (Scott); his son-in-law Brian Schmidke; his grandchildren, Kristen (Dustin), Ashley (Joseph), Austin, Samantha, Jessica (Drew), Ben (Dusten), Brent (Kezia), Jorden (Tori), Kaitlyn, Olivia, Travis, Eric, Steve, Shawn, Brittney, Adam, Alex (Lacey) and Alayne; his sister Judy Ytzen; and his sister-in-law Sandy Pitkin. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 9:30 AM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church (508 2nd Ave N, Clear Lake, IA 50428).
