He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas F. Sr. Shear and Doris Mae Shear (Larson); and his son Charlie. He is survived by: his son Jonathan "Jon" Shear (Cassie) of Clear Lake; his grandchildren, Hayden, Lyla and Brody; his brother Mike Shear (Patty) of Iowa City; and his stepmother Betty Shear of Iowa City. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.
