He is survived by: his spouse Naomi Scheive; his children, Jay and Jill; his granddaughter Alanna Nicholle Monson; his siblings, LaVonne "Bonnie" Holmgaard of Illinois, Rita Lee of Clear Lake, Shirley Knapp (Jim) of Iowa City and Gloria Kline (Mike) of Bendendorf; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Monson, Marsha Monson, Janet Monson and Karen Monson.
