He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Freerks and LaVonne Freerks (Wedeking); his grandparents, Art and Lela Wedeking; his son Bruce Freerks; and his siblings, Becky Kroeze and Barry Freerks.

He is survived by: his children, Brent Freerks (Ann) of Iowa City, Jeremy Freerks (Dawn) of Solon, Iowa and Angela Kramer of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Lyndsie Puffett (Jay), Kayla Armstrong (Conley Wilkins), Nolan Armstrong, Zach Armstrong, Jenna Kramer, Josie Kramer, Brian Alcaraz (Ashlee), Nicholas Freerks (Jenna), Grace Freerks, Hannah Freerks, Conner Freerks, Emma Freerks, Eli Freerks, Evann Freerks and Elea Freerks; and his sisters, Connie Wagner (Wayne) of Cedar Falls, Terri Retterath (Ron) of Elma and Jackie Ransom (Terry) of Altoona, Iowa.. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
