He is survived by: his father Donald Wendel of Chicago, Illinois; his former wife Catherine Lynch; his wife Cathy of Clarion; his children, Paul Wendel (Danielle) of Omaha, Diana Brienza (Jon) of Des Moines and Sara Kingsbury of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Lydia Brienza, Angela Brienza and Thomas Brienza; and his siblings, Gary (Caroline), Barb, Sally (Johann), Nathan (Jamie) and Amy (Dave).
