He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Lindstrom; and his brothers, Donald and Vernon. He is survived by: his children, Deb Schendt (Jim) of Coralville and Denny Elston (Glenda) of Clarion; his granddaughter Angie Krieger (Jason); his children, Claire, Blythe, Drew and Quinn of Grimes; his granddaughter Amy Link (Dave); his children, Morgan, Jackson and Sophia of Solon; his grandson Roger Haupt Jr. of Webster City; his daughter Mackenzie of Tampa, Florida; his grandson Dusty Elston (Tami); and his daughter Rillie of Clarion. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Wright County Fair.
