We bid farewell to Virgil Ross Pyle of Cherokee, Iowa, born in Slayton, Minnesota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 10, 2024 at the age of 90. Virgil Ross touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Pyle and Jennie Pyle (Ross); his wife Patty Pyle of Cherokee; his former wife Joyce Pyle (Phipps); and his daughters-in-law, Rene Pyle and Hazel Pyle.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Pyle (Marlene) of Cherokee, Terry Pyle of Elizabeth, Dennis Pyle (Mindy) of Storm Lake, Vicki Gilson (Kirby) of Urbandale and Shelly Green (Charlie) of Wichita, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Janna Utesch (Matt), Gabe Pyle, Ty Pyle (Christi), Luke Pyle (Gretchen), Tera Howe, Joel Gilson (Indy), Calvin Pyle, Courtney Climer (Calob), Chad Gilson, Nicole Barnes (Kyle), Landon Green, Colin Green, Whitney Green and Haley Green. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 14th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Boothby Funeral Home (207 E Main St, Cherokee, IA 51012). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 15th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the First Church of Christ (772 N 2nd St, Cherokee, IA 51012).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Virgil's honor to Cherokee Regional Hospice or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
