He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Johnston and Mildred Johnston (Phelan); his son Neal Johnston; his sister Delores Schwaller (Don); his son-in-law Eugene Beckwith; and his brother-in-law Melvin Roepke.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Johnston of Cherokee, Iowa; his daughter Carla Beckwith (Terry Walford) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Taylor Johnston and Trista Johnston; his daughter-in-law Jill Holmes (Dan) of Cherokee, Iowa; and his sister Darlene Roepke (Larry Goettsch) of Washta, Iowa..
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Boothby Funeral Home (207 E Main St, Cherokee, IA 51012). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the First Church of Christ (772 N 2nd St, Cherokee, IA 51012).
