He was predeceased by: his parents, Melburn Schmidt and Berniece Schmidt (Hawkins); and his brother Steve. He is survived by: his former wife Charlene Grant; his children, Mike Schmidt of Colorado, Marsha Chrisman (Steve) of Colorado, Mollie Lewis of Colorado, Moniece Andrus (Doug) of Colorado, Denise and Gutierrez of Sioux City, Iowa; and his brothers, John Schmidt (Jackie), Don Schmidt (Trish) and Gary Schmidt (Kristy). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
