He is survived by: his wife Connie of Cherokee, Iowa; his children, Colby Nielsen of Cherokee, Carrie Cordova (Chris) of Cherokee and Cindy Weflen (Randy) of Aurelia, Iowa; his grandchildren, Breanna Sorgdrager (Trent) of Meriden, Andrew Freese (Sara) of Cherokee, Nathan Weflen of Aurelia and Kimberly Weflen of Aurelia, Iowa; his great grandchildren, Logan, Lucas and Levi; and his brother Tarris Nielsen (Judy) of Marcus, Iowa..
He sang in the church choir, assisted with the Pals Project, and was a member of the Christian Education Foundation and Toastmasters Association.
