He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Smith and Lyle Smith; his wife Monica (Sutter) of West Union; his brother Robert (Mary); and his niece Renee Stonebrook.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Gast (Bruce) of Osage and Steven of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandsons, Ben Gast (Kristina) of Durant and Mathew Gast (Melanie) of Osage; and his great grandchildren, Macy, Ethan, Max and Colby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to designate for charities that were meaningful to Gene.
